Harpsichord
Built by Morton Gould in 1981, the instrument is a Single Manual Zuckerman ‘Flemish’ style harpsichord.
There are two registers at 8ft, one at 4ft and a buff option, all operating on plastic jacks. The compass is 4.5 octaves.
It is an ideal instrument for solo, ensemble or continuo work.

There is the ability to transpose from A=440Hz to 415Hz and it is normally tuned to equal temperament.
Any change to the tuning or pitch should only be done with permission from the Society.

The soundboard was painted by Edinburgh artist Sheila Barnes.
Music desk, lid and prop stick included (no cover).

This instrument was acquired by the Society in March 2025 thanks to a generous bequest from the late Malcolm Porteous, a long-term supporter and member of the Society.
